The GORUCK GR2 Tactical Backpack
Verdict: Buy – Totally EPIC! (Affiliate Link)
Why?: Superior construction, well thought out design, built tough, great warranty, versatile, holds an 18″ laptop, comfortable, might be the last backpack you ever get, totally tactical looking
Why Not?: Water resistant, not water proof, might be the last backpack you ever get
I have owned the GR2 for 8 months now. I held off from getting one for a few years due to the cost but now that I have one I totally regret it! Being something of a back pack snob I was not sure the price was justified but I know it is now. This thing is a great day and weekend bag. I use it everyday and my wife liked mine so much she got a GR1 for herself and a Ruck plate.
I can fit a full change of clothes (fully folded and neat due to suitcase opening design), a pair of sneakers, an 18″ laptop, and way more. It has space to insert a hydration bladder for longer hikes and plenty of pockets for miscellaneous stuff.
I have also taken this pack on extended weekends and international travel. This works great on planes. I was worried that it’s larger size would hinder it but it fit fine under the airplane seat and I was able to access all contents without issue. Security was no problem either with the suitcase opening design.
Some people might like a sternum strap or water bottle pocket. You can get both of those add ons from the GORUCK Site: (Affiliate Link)
My next plan is to do a GORUCK challenge and see how it holds up and how it functions after the challenge as a day pack. Can it take a beating and still look good??
